Yesterday morning, just a few weeks after her 90th birthday, my great-aunt Louise Stabler Dilda passed away. My stepfather described her perfectly: “A good lady with a heart as big as Montana skies. A great matriarch.”
Aunt Louise with her siblings. She’s in the center, in glamorous black. My Grandpa Joe — father of my stepdad Lew and my Aunt Fran — is in the back on the right. Date and photographer unknown.
My aunt Fran shared these wonderful photos (with captions) of Aunt Louise’s 90th birthday party, just a few short weeks ago.
Farewell, Aunt Louise. You are missed by all who knew you. May the angels lead you safely home.
I remember her as so generously opening her home to Nikki, Fran n Ron on their multiple MD Anderson hospital trips to Houston. Always a gracious hostess! May she rest in peace. Thanks for posting, I had no idea, Panch.

She was such a generous soul, and sharp as a tack to the very end. Service is Tuesday morning in Houston. Hugs to you all, Therese.

Oh, Panch, I am so behind in my reading of your blog, hope to catch up soon, but I just saw this minutes ago. It is beautiful…thank you so much. It made me cry. I miss her terribly. You honored her beautifully. Love you, Fran

Love you too, Fran. Thank you for being so good about pictures. I got Lew to help me identify the other kids in the older photo, so I’ll update that caption soon. Hugs to you all — you’re on my mind.
